Hello, there! I’m Joseph, and I’m on a mission to disrupt Southwest Virginia’s plastics recycling and construction industries with revolutionary processes and products. If you’re looking to find a way to recycle more items than your current community recycling program allows, you’re in the right place!
I am excited to offer solutions for your plastic pollution!
Urban Reblokd can close the gap between what the current recycling system can process and what goes to the landfill.
We either drive to your house or business and pick up ALL of your plastic recycling for you OR you can drop off your recycling at our facility.
What can we take?
Plastics numbered 1-7
Styrofoam
Stretchy film
Take out cups and containers
Old electronics
Really, ANY and ALL Plastics
What does it cost?
$50 for a monthly pickup, $75 bi-monthly, and $100 for weekly pickups. There is a $25 monthly fee for drop-offs. These prices are for the City of Roanoke. Please reach out to us for fees outside of the City of Roanoke.
What Do I Have to Do? Simply Rinse it, Bag it, and Curb it!
What Happens to My Recycling Next?
We get to work! We sort every item and breakdown electronics, pull out glass and gather up all the plastics! We put all of the plastic items through a granulator machine – your plastic comes out looking like mulch! The metals are sent off for processing and the plastic mulch is stored. NOTHING EVER TOUCHES THE LANDFILL!
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL…
How are Roanoke’s construction, railroad and recycling industries connected?
Even though they are vital to Roanoke’s economy and environment, the construction and railroad industries produce large amounts of waste that the current recycling system does not process, therefore, these recyclable materials are sent to the area landfills.
URBAN REBLOKD is developing a machine that can transform all plastic waste (that mulch!) into safe, high quality, sustainable building materials – including pavers, beams, railroad ties, 2×4 products and more. We offer people and businesses a simple service that cleans up our neighborhoods and towns. However, we aren’t stopping there. Our railroad and construction industries help our area thrive and create jobs, so we want to help them by creating a useful product that is cost-effective and reduces waste.
Last year we created a KICKSTARTER video…
The Kickstarter campaign is closed, however, this video shows our passion and overall vision for this project. Our plan is to use fees from recycling pick ups and drop offs to help us finish developing our new machine.
